What are interim payments and why are they important?
Interim payments are partial payments of compensation made before the claim is finally settled. In serious injury cases, they are critical because the claim may take several years to resolve and the claimant needs care, rehabilitation, equipment and accommodation adaptation now, not in three to five years. Courts can order interim payments once liability is established or admitted.
